“DEUS EX RUNNING MACHINA / NATIONAL BODY ART / VANITAS DECOMPOSED”
TUKA WACH
19.09.2019 / h. 9 PM
Venue: Dance Art Center in Warsaw / the Mazovia Institute of Culture / ul. Elektoralna 12
Tickets: 20 PLN
Duration: 60 min.
THIS PERFORMANCE CONTAINS NUDE SCENES
Tuka Wach proposes an evening consisting of a joint improvisation and two solo performances by Tuka and Wach, where the open space meets the restrictiveness of the 4 walls of the woman’s room, personal memory with the universality of archetypes and depth of the subconscious.

Continuation a series of work with space as reflection of inner landscape which has begin in performance ‘Girl descending a staircase ‘(2017).
‘Deus ex Running Machina’ is a collection of ‘live body in state of run’
images
in spatial configurations
in the composition of the projections
and everything is immersed in the machina of sound.
The viewer may move freely in space to choose any convenient observation point.
TUKA is in a state of constant running, for something, before something, away from something.
She runs according to her personal map of memory, ideas, imaginations, transforming into various unrelated characters, creating a collage of torn-up narratives.
She is making her own commentary. The attempt of self-criticism has the face of a unified choir. As in the Greek tragedy. The choir can act as an intermediary between the viewers and the protagonist. And, at some point, viewer and the choir may become one…
NATIONAL BODY ART

NBA – is a kind of ‘creative warm-up’
In a symbolic act of destruction, Tuka & Wach enters the sphere concerning (in their opinion) aspects of Polish mythology. The kitchen is a very important space for us all. Serious conversations take place here. The place where the duo improves is the everyday space in which they try to express their complicated relationship to their roots from the depths of their Polish guts. White plates, washing liquid Ludwik and Moniuszko are a kind of vehicle for suspiciously hung up questions about the identity of performers. National Body Art is a unique improvisation on the body / voice and sound of broken glass.

This performance has a shape of minimalistic live installation focused on subject of entropy and decay. Anita explores movement of stopping and balancing. Everything has a tendency to resist or to move downwards. She allows the things to slip out of her hands and observes how gravity decomposes carefully constructed images. Her body is balancing between materiality of objects and futility of their meaning, between complexity of symbols and simplicity of bare existence, calling up phantoms of her personal past and universal future.
