The 2017 Programme is divided into two cycles: MORZE MOŻLIWOŚCI (THE VAST SEA OF OPPORTUNITY) and OKO CYKLONU (THE EYE OF THE CYCLONE)
THE VAST SEA OF OPPORTUNITY
The shows and events presented in this particular cycle will feature various techniques and varying approach to contemporary dance. The performances in this cycle will aim to present different treatment of the modern dance techniques, premieres, young artists’ first appearances in the sphere of contemporary dance art and performance art; also included are presentations by acclaimed, well-known artists who cooperate with the younger generation, and, last but not least, performances and installation art events for children.
THE EYE OF THE CYCLONE
A Centre of stormy events. A Centre of important matters. A Centre that can sometimes be dangerous, shocking, astounding. The performances presented in this cycle undertake vital problems in very many differing ways. The artists use improvisation, construct tension/expression by means of micro-movements, make use of performative tools, combine various dance styles and various spheres of the arts: dance/theatre/film/visual arts – they employ video materials, put up installations or act in an empty space. One special trait connects the whole of the work by our artists: it is like the eye of the cyclone – it takes up crucial dilemmas, rough ones, sometimes ominous, intense and ultimate but very well-known to us all.

Performance for an adult audience
“Private Stocktaking’, that means the highest time has come for confrontation with the actual state of things. Together with the audience we enter an empty space, and what we are going to fill it with, is a kind of events that stem from our very personal settling of accounts. They may seem trivial, not serious, strange but because they are ours –they are unique. This performance art spectacle follows the form of a exhibition, because only entering the state of “being an object’ can save the settling of accounts, or reckoning, from total chaos. What are our exhibition gallery showpieces like? For instance, a female nude pushed into a corner of a space. The picture appears for only a few minutes, leaving an impression of a very intimate meeting and, at the same time, of extreme loneliness and… a pair of red wool socks as the only trace of HER presence. Also, a body turned upside down, without a face. What remains of it is ‘ a freshly watered plant in a pot’ and an impression that something very violent happened which made the body acquire such a radical shape. And many other events ‘extracted’ from the performers.
‘How hares die?” – asking ourselves this question, we open the space of the unknown or the space of loss. Hares have very rich mythology in various cultures. In ancient Egypt, the hieroglyph in the shape of a hare meant the verb ‘to BE’. That is why, even if only for a moment, we are trying to impersonate that animal, and through that animal, to establish real contact with the audience, to BE together.
What everybody knows about a hare, is the way it moves. A hare hops. This kind of dynamics is the logic of our dramaturgy, sudden changes, lacking sense, faith in intuition and self- sacrifice. A hare is of delicate nature and, as one of the spectators said after the performance: ‘in our times we need more hares’.
This performance art spectacle is dedicated to a German Artist Joseph Beuys who believed in the revolutionary, healing power of art.
“Private Stocktaking” and “How Hares Die” projects were granted a scholarship by the Minister of Culture.
